The lingering lights

Time consumes us all as we sway through the endless ebb and flow of the river. But throughout, we grab hold of the reeds in the river, and with each strand snatched we take the memories of the river and use them to build our own.

Each member of Lucid Flame has come far these past 2 years. Some of us have moved on to new things, taking up careers and new educational pathways. Some of us have encountered strong walls, complicated to get beyond.
But we have not forgotten.

Strange metaphors aside, I’d like to remind everyone that our projects are not dead. In these creations, the characters and the story, we hold dear memories. A piece of our past we wont let go of, lest it drift away forever.
I can no vouch entirely, as I am fool enough to not maintain contact with my friends here. But, I wont stop making Legions from Thyilos, and I know through it the friendships I hold dear will live on.

In the coming months, expect to see more posts returning to this site and hopefully Studio Wisp in turn. I will continue to develop LfT on the sidelines of work and one day meet my destiny of publishing a full game.

Until that day comes. Thanks to all those who support us. No matter wherever you are.

Our spark burns bright, and shall ignite once more.

Character Sprites and Voice Acting

So, some of you out there maybe wondering what I’ve been up to this whole time, I mean, I haven’t updated in like… forever. Hahaha this update is actually pretty big, I totally understand if you get bored reading it half way through XD

Graphics

First off, RG is currently the god of my idolatry. He has made a new logo for KoT :3 which you can see at the top of this post~ Ohhhh how much more I loves it ❤

As of… Yesterday, I’m making all of the icons for KoT by myself instead of using ones made by others. So far I only have a few, but I think they’re going to be a lot better^^

Lately, I’ve been in a really weird mood and have gotten a lot of drawing done. Most of it was not KoT related, however, I did finally get Eric’s character art done XD

SO, I’ve also gotten a lot of spriting done, at this point all but one of the main characters have been completed! I also resprited Lancelot, because, well, I’ve never really been a fan of his design~ I’m not quite sure about his hair though~ While I’m at it, I might as well just post all of them XD

Also, I’ve decided to switch from BEM to Tankentai, mostly due to customization… and bugs. I’m currently working on getting the battle sprites to work properly, but they don’t want to because they’re a different size~

Other stuff

Right now, it’s still battlesystem battlesystem battlesystem~ I have to start the enemies over now too, because of the system switch to Tankentai. Then I’ll make the skills again…. Fun.

Prehistoria is going along well too. I still don’t have any new screenies, because I’d rather not let you see the new maps I have done xD you might figure out things that should not be figured out yet~

I know I keep pushing the demo date back further and further, but this time I swear to god I mean it *^* I shall have a demo released by the end of April! It’s all easy going after Prehistoria is done, so I might actually get KoT done this year zomj.

Also… I’ve decided I’m going to have voice acting OwO I’m going to post up the official auditions sometime next month, but friends can try out for a part now if you want to I think :3 there are lots of parts to be filled, more girls than guys though I’m afraid.
Voice acting will only be in important scenes and in battle though, not throughout the whole game *that would drive me crazy*. And I’m thinking of adding an option to turn it off too, as I know a lot of people don’t like voice acting. The characters that will be first priority for voice acting are…
Rose, Eric, Lucy, Lancelot, Father Time, Death, Red, Valarie DePeeks, and Skuld. Other characters include Life, Verdandi, Wyrd, and a ton of other characters that are either spoilerific or side characters

Rofl that was a lot more typing than i thought it would be @.@ OTL and it seems like a lot less is done when it’s in post form, but oh well… Hopefully now I will be posting periodical small updates, so stay tuned if you’re interested I suppose~

Progression on Tales of Thyilos

I thought I’d post an update so people knew where the project was at:
So at this point, the majority of bugs and issues in the Alpha DEMO have been fixed. With luck, everything will be good to go for the BETA Demo (hopefully coming out Early December).

I’ll be finding time to make the animated intro, which will replace the boring evented intro at the start. This animation will hopefully contain a custom track made by the Music/Sound artist.

At the moment, the only new mapping being done is a scene which follows shortly after gaining the next two party members, Carol and Bruce. Without giving away any major spoilers, I will say that you need to escape from captivity, but not before obtaining a key item that is needed in order to obtain another, very important item.

That’s about it for now though. Just fixing things up and doing some more mapping and eventing. Hopefully everything goes well and we stay on schedule!

Open DEMO

I thought I might post an update on this, seeing as things have been progressing fairly well since the Closed-Demo release.

I’m going to hopefully release the Demo somewhere early December. It’s a fair way away still, but with other work still going outside of the game, it’s probably going to be the best date to set. With any luck, all bugs will be fixed in the current version and everything will run smoothly!

BETA Testers for Tales of Thyilos

So as promised, I said I’d have something of a Closed BETA test ready by the end of this month, which means it has to be done, uploaded, and ready for those who wish to test, to download and explore what there is in the world thus far.

The BETA will include:

  • The ability to explore up to 60% of Verdok, the first Kingdom you have access to.
  • Two side quests
  • Three story based quests
  • A boss battle

With any luck, I’ll also find time to construct the cinematic I wanted to have at the start. Depends if I find time for sketching, and audio recording. If not, then I’m afraid it’ll have to be the standard story opening.
Most maps will also seem empty too because I rushed through a basic construction of them in order to be able to get to the eventing part.

I do ask for those of you who do opt to play the BETA Demo, to report any errors you spot, such as terrain that you can walk-over when you shouldn’t, events that may not have played through properly or stopped/looped unexpectedly, and the odd portion of missed code or grammatical/spelling error, in which I’m sure I’ve missed a few at least.

I also invite people to make suggestions about the game. The best one will hopefully not only be successfully implemented, but the one who suggested it will get a NPC version of themselves in the game as part of a random side quest later on.

Projects

We’ve gone an uploaded progress pages for 2 projects thus far.

Tales of Thyilos and Keepers of Time.
Will hopefully have another game up soon to broaden the views, and hopefully very soon, some screenshots from our games.
ToT, and KoT are both games that’ve been in production for a while, so there’s plenty to them, and these will be games that’ll have screenshots appearing for them.

Remember to drop a comment along the way and give us your thoughts.

But while I’m bringing up a mention on current project development, I might mention we’ve been discussing another little narrative. I might also mention that it’s go the green flag for the conceptual development stage. That’s all I can release for now on such matters as the real go-ahead for this “theoretical project” would not be for some time.
But rest assured, if it did actually become less theory, more real, then there’s be news about it, and you could image the motivation of our team working on our first LucidFlame exclusive project. 😉
