The lingering lights

Time consumes us all as we sway through the endless ebb and flow of the river. But throughout, we grab hold of the reeds in the river, and with each strand snatched we take the memories of the river and use them to build our own.

Each member of Lucid Flame has come far these past 2 years. Some of us have moved on to new things, taking up careers and new educational pathways. Some of us have encountered strong walls, complicated to get beyond.
But we have not forgotten.

Strange metaphors aside, I’d like to remind everyone that our projects are not dead. In these creations, the characters and the story, we hold dear memories. A piece of our past we wont let go of, lest it drift away forever.
I can no vouch entirely, as I am fool enough to not maintain contact with my friends here. But, I wont stop making Legions from Thyilos, and I know through it the friendships I hold dear will live on.

In the coming months, expect to see more posts returning to this site and hopefully Studio Wisp in turn. I will continue to develop LfT on the sidelines of work and one day meet my destiny of publishing a full game.

Until that day comes. Thanks to all those who support us. No matter wherever you are.

Our spark burns bright, and shall ignite once more.

This is a resurrection post!

As any of our followers would have noticed, LF seemed to vanish off the face of the planet around four months ago, and we’d owe you a good reason for that.

To begin with, myself, Shea, lost my laptop completely after it gave up the ghost. You may remember that in the, coincidentally, last pot here. it was a troublesom event, and for 3 months was out of action. Then after finally saving up and being able to get a new computer, it’s was another month again to get back into a work flow; as a result the will to post an update on here had faded. But, that ends now, and I’ll at least be trying to keep everyone up to date on all things LF related! For we certain are not gone yet, I promise you that.

So before I get started, my sincerest of appologise on behalf of all of Lucid Flame for the extreme lack of any updates.

Onto updates!!

First up on the running list, is Legends from Thyilos, which since I came back, I released a quick patch for the current (and still last) Beta Release for the demo. The patch fixes a couple missed things that could’ve caused trouble, particular a malfunctioning Antidote which wasn’t curing Poison at all. It did cure a couple other ailments though, but none of them are ones you could get yet.
You can download that fixed Beta here if you still feel game for it. The Full Demo release will be hopefully due sometime December. I can’t assure a specific date as of yet since things have slowed down, and the production team is becoming busier with real-time work.
However, in light of the no date, I’m pleased to announce we have a musician again, who so far has already proven quality of work. The Demo will have custom tracks composed by our new team member.

Next up, is Keepers of Time, which has mostly seen artwork development as of late. You can view a couple bits of promotional art over on the Artwork section of the site, but if you want to see even more of her work, consider visiting her Deviant Art where she puts up her work more regularly.
As far as the games development goes, it’s ‘in and out’, so to speak. The ‘of Time’ dev members had been putting more focus into another upcoming game that’ll tie into the series, but I”ll discuss more of that later. So as such for the current work flow, KoT will not have a pre-ordained Demo date, nor will it have any mention of potential Open Beta Demo’s, but if circumstances change, we will notify you and encourage. As of a post earlier last month on a forum, she’s hoped to get a demo out once Prehistoria is finished.

Seed’s of Time, technically the second in the ‘of Time’ series, has its progress on hold, the main reason being the lead developer, Rosa, is focused more thouroughly on the mysertious, third game in the series; which as I mentioned is the reason for KoT to be going by a little slower. Suffice to say now, all work on SoT has not stopped. It’s still an integral part in the series, so talk about it does come in and out when we’re discussing narrative.

Now, in closing to this post, I’d like to bring up that “other” game I’ve already mentioned a few times so far which has captivated both the lovely Rose and Rosa into thinking more about it. But because I’m a tease, I wont actually discuss it yet.
Instead, I’m going to talk with the others on it, then in a later post, possibly tomorrow, we will set up an official page for it here on LF.
Stay tuned for the announcement of the mysterious “ToT”.

One last notice before I go. The Live Streaming page, which was meant to have more activity on it, was neglected. mainly because I was the only one who wanted to make use of it at the time. The page is remaining up for now in case something changes. in the mean time, you can still access it, and view older videos that were recorded.

Until next time, 😉

Beta V6 for Tales of Thyilos

Just a quick post to let people know that I’ve set a strict deadline has been put up for the final Beta Version to be done by the end of this weekend, and no later. Thanks to some very helpful people, the previous Beta Versions have had plenty of fixups, and the final Beta Release will be a fully functional comparison to what the Fully Completed Demo will be.

Of course, the Full Demo will have a schedule, and my aims are for mid June. This’ll be enough time to get in more custom elements and harness peoples’ opinions to refine details and fix issues.

Also, I’d like to let people know that the game “may” have a slight name change.

There’s a project I’ve mentioned before, and even posted some “random art” relating this it, and this project is close to becoming opening discussed here for people to read. What I will say to get you going, is that followers of Seeds of Time and Keepers of Time, will start seeing information on the third tie-in with the series; and the title that is so far the only one that we can make “fit”, happens to make the Anagram of “ToT”, hence, the possibility of a slight title change to Tales of Thyilos.
Of course, a rose by any of name still smells the same, so a slight title change wont affect the game itself. In fact, if it is changed, it’d probably be “Legends from Thyilos”, which considering the ever-expanding history and lore about the world of Thyilos, I think that title works very appropriately. You can find out tomorrow night when the Beta V6 goes up whether or not there is a title change, but relevant links will still remain as “ToT” for a short time to prevent confusion.

Now for other Lucid Flame news, the Livestream feature that was added last month may go back to work. As for myself, I am unable to do Livestreaming at home due to house renovations and network issues, but I might be able to do some Livestreaming when away at other locations. I’ve also been occasionally bringing up Livestreaming to Shadow, and if I can get her passed shyness, she may Livestream some of her artwork! So if you want to see her work flow on the go, help me out by sending her messages and comments about how you’d love to see her work in real time. 😉

That’s all the news for today, and before I go, an apology for the lack of updates as of late. So to those still bearing with us, a big thank you for you.

Enjoy the weekend, everyone.

One last ToT Beta

The last few weeks for Tales of Thyilos has involved re-creating the database from scratch so there’s no more defaults, configuring a new battle system, and locating bugs and issues found by those who reported them in the previous Beta release.

But now as the new setup comes to a close, I’ll be able to issue one final Beta for the game, which on top of using the Tankentai Battle system; will also have all the new abilities added and new in game menu to replace the one that was causing issues in the previous Beta releases. The current one shouldn’t cause any more trouble, and though I did like the previous menu design, I do quite like the new one and it’s given a couple new options to the menu’s design.

I’ll aim to put up the final Beta release by the end of this week, and try and schedule the Full Demo to come sometime in May (preferably).

On a different matter, previously I’d been using Livestream to do recordings, but lately my own internet has been screwing up and until its fixed it’s too going too slow to bother with a Livestream. But I may be able to coax one of the other member’s into giving it a go, so stay tuned for that. 😉

ToT Beta Vr0.5 and tester lookout (edit – Link is now Vr 0.5.2)

After a long day and night of debugging and narrative scripting, I’ve put out the fifth release of the Beta demo.

<Link here>

Version 5 now lets you go explore Chipadin, but as of yet, the Inn isn’t accessible as it requires a lot of detail to go into it.  Kinda like what I’m going with the Brimming Mug over in Verdok.
But the narrative behind each character in your party is also coming together, and as the game progresses you can talk to them and start to learn more.
The game guide also now comes as an actual booklet, instead of a text document.

But now, onto a very important manner. I can’t exactly blame anyone else but myself for overlooking issues, but in the Version 4 Release, there was a bug that prevented people from going further than Myradin. This was during the first Stand Alone release, and one single item that was missed out of the hundreds caused the issue. It’s fixed now though.
So I’m looking for people who really would like to get a chance to have their hands first on the Beta Release. It’s going to be a while before I can drop in Vr 0.6, and just as long after when the Full Demo is meant to be released. But to ensure no stuff-ups that only get found out 2 weeks later occur again, I need interested applicants.
Of course, as the game has no intention on turning a profit, there’s no money to go around. So Offical Testers reward comes with whatever else I can think of, and a mention in the credits.
So, if you’re interested in getting your hands a on Beta Release 6 before the public, slip me an e-mail at smeadth.studiowisp@gmail.com

Nooowww onto a different topic.
Since LF went and got it’s own domain name, we’ve started to go on and create new pages, which so far are empty. But, rest assured that there’ll be plenty of material in there soon! The pages listed in that section are the only ones officially planned for now, but I’m still looking into Livestreaming. Not sure what I’d do if I had an open channel going, but I’ll figure it out. Maybe exclusive live stream of game being developed right before the audiences eyes? (I think I can do that under such pressure. Probably be a great motivator!)

As for anything else… well, we can’t think of anything for now! But we’ll let you know. 😉

Lastly, before I leave, Rose Reveries up a week ago over on one of the forums she updates Keepers of Time on, about voice casting. Visit this link here to take a look at that recent update, or, wait patiently for me to nag her to post up here. Which ever suits you best.

Till next time!

Lucidflame.wordpress is now also LucidFlame.net!!

We decided to take big step forward and make our little group but one more official by garnishing our efforts with a touch of registered domain!

So without further adieu, welcome all to LucidFlame.net

You can still find us under lucidflame.wordpress.com , so if you’ve made any bookmarks, you don’t have to go changing anything.

It’s almost a shame though, we had wanted to make it LucidFlame.com, but some random, seemingly nothingness site owns it for the next two years. Go figure 😛 But hopefully you can all find this easier to remember so you can keep in touch with what updates there are to come!

Speaking of which, we were also discussing during our talk about registering a domain, about adding new content to the website. I can’t say for sure what it is yet, but we are thinking of a page dedicated to random art, which may also include articles not relevant to any of the games we are working on. I even mentioned the possibility of doing live-streaming… but, that could be a long way off, even if it weren’t just a random though.

So without further ramblings, I hope you all can drop by again soon and that you enjoy your visit enough to want to drop by again. ^_^

Till next time!
