ToT Beta Vr0.5 and tester lookout (edit – Link is now Vr 0.5.2)

After a long day and night of debugging and narrative scripting, I’ve put out the fifth release of the Beta demo.

<Link here>

Version 5 now lets you go explore Chipadin, but as of yet, the Inn isn’t accessible as it requires a lot of detail to go into it.  Kinda like what I’m going with the Brimming Mug over in Verdok.
But the narrative behind each character in your party is also coming together, and as the game progresses you can talk to them and start to learn more.
The game guide also now comes as an actual booklet, instead of a text document.

But now, onto a very important manner. I can’t exactly blame anyone else but myself for overlooking issues, but in the Version 4 Release, there was a bug that prevented people from going further than Myradin. This was during the first Stand Alone release, and one single item that was missed out of the hundreds caused the issue. It’s fixed now though.
So I’m looking for people who really would like to get a chance to have their hands first on the Beta Release. It’s going to be a while before I can drop in Vr 0.6, and just as long after when the Full Demo is meant to be released. But to ensure no stuff-ups that only get found out 2 weeks later occur again, I need interested applicants.
Of course, as the game has no intention on turning a profit, there’s no money to go around. So Offical Testers reward comes with whatever else I can think of, and a mention in the credits.
So, if you’re interested in getting your hands a on Beta Release 6 before the public, slip me an e-mail at smeadth.studiowisp@gmail.com

Nooowww onto a different topic.
Since LF went and got it’s own domain name, we’ve started to go on and create new pages, which so far are empty. But, rest assured that there’ll be plenty of material in there soon! The pages listed in that section are the only ones officially planned for now, but I’m still looking into Livestreaming. Not sure what I’d do if I had an open channel going, but I’ll figure it out. Maybe exclusive live stream of game being developed right before the audiences eyes? (I think I can do that under such pressure. Probably be a great motivator!)

As for anything else… well, we can’t think of anything for now! But we’ll let you know. 😉

Lastly, before I leave, Rose Reveries up a week ago over on one of the forums she updates Keepers of Time on, about voice casting. Visit this link here to take a look at that recent update, or, wait patiently for me to nag her to post up here. Which ever suits you best.

Till next time!

Tales of Thyilos, Stand-alone Beta Demo Version

To compensate for the possability of the previous version not working on some Windows OS’s, the game has been compiled into a Stand-Alone. Normally, we wouldn’t have done this until the full demo came out (which will be in about 3 months, we think), but we can’t leave people out of being able to take part in playing the Beta, so this version ensures that it can run on any Windows OS (that we are aware of so far), with any issues.

We’re not sure why it didn’t work on some systems though. The only guess was that perhaps the XP RTP didn’t work on them? So now that’s not needed to rule that problem out. If the game still doesn’t run on your OS, can you please help us out by e-mailing me with the details of the problem, and details of your system. You can screenshot the problem if you wish as well.

Included in this version there is:
-Stand-alone version of the game
-Alpha version of Thyilosian Lore (in which I have someone to help proof read and give me a hand with making things all fit nicely without holes)
-Installation and Game Controls guide (which is just a .txt file at the moment)

Included as new features, there is now a constant MP Regen at the end of your turn during battle; some more spelling fixes; and a new quick to do quest.

Coming in the next Beta Release there will be:
-Characters in your party will appear in Inns you visit. You can talk to them and as the game progresses more dialogue will unlock, eventually leading up to a unique quest.
-A gambling den in Verdok where you can play some high stake games to earn extra coin (so I guess this game really is rated Mature now)
-A Guild House where you can undertake either a monster hunting job, or, a specific task, like helping suppress bandits at a high risk, for good money.
-More unique skills for characters that will level up over time as they are used. (at the moment, Jaden has one of these skills. I’m give the skill more levels and adjust the use distance between the levelling, such s maybe start at 5, then 10, then 20, etc.)

Hope you all can enjoy what there is in the game, and we look forward to any feedback. 🙂
