Tales of Thyilos – Public beta demo

The Beta Demo for ToT has arrived. This public Beta is to allow, well, the Public to take a look at the game, outside of the testing group. Of course there’s still the possible error and odd finish that is clearly unfinished, but, the other part is there and that’s hopefully over an hours worth, which is pretty good for a Beta Demo I think. In the next month, a FULL Demo will be released, but between here and now, the public may play this and have the chance to take art in a rather critical part of the games development! Which as the head developer of the game, I think that’s pretty important since in the end this game isn’t just for me to get a story, or for our artists to get their work more open, but so that the public can enjoy a game and get somewhat immersed in a world other than their own.

So, without further rambling on, here is the Beta Demo!!

(note: there’s been a problem with the customised configuration not going across via the engine’s settings. Go figure! Needless to say, we need to either configure everything to the game default, or, find a script. Until then, we apologise, but you’ll have to manually configure the keys to fit this image provided. You can access the keyboard config by hitting F1.)

Unfortunately, the Thyilosian Lore Book is currently unavailable. Story is a priority, so a document that is relevant as such is VERY important. So the Beta version of the book that I promise will become available within two weeks, which will include original concept art, and a painted version of the Four Kingdoms; as well as information about the world of Thyilos you would not have otherwise discovered.

SoT update!!

Okay!! ^^ I have a small update, but still…at least its something, right?
lol Anyway…I have a few screenshots of the interior of the houses, and the town itself. RoseReveries, the creater of KoT,  will be mapping all of my towns for SoT.  I’m still a little shaky when it comes to mapping, and I found out that me and towns…well…we’re mortal enemies.
To view the images, click on this symbol:  Oh! before I forget…the symbol that I used is the Time seed in SoT, it has a major part in the game. HuskyHeartMedia’s EmilLowell created this icon for me.

The one all the way to the left is the town itself. the 6 beside it is the interior of the houses and the shop.

I have been working on this for awhile now, and I’m just now able to start making it, but hey..at least now it’s being created. So far, I have the first map down, and I have a cave, but it’s still a work in progress, so I will not be showing it just yet. I have almost all of the storyline done, so there might be another update soon, might not. lol

BETA Testers for Tales of Thyilos

So as promised, I said I’d have something of a Closed BETA test ready by the end of this month, which means it has to be done, uploaded, and ready for those who wish to test, to download and explore what there is in the world thus far.

The BETA will include:

  • The ability to explore up to 60% of Verdok, the first Kingdom you have access to.
  • Two side quests
  • Three story based quests
  • A boss battle

With any luck, I’ll also find time to construct the cinematic I wanted to have at the start. Depends if I find time for sketching, and audio recording. If not, then I’m afraid it’ll have to be the standard story opening.
Most maps will also seem empty too because I rushed through a basic construction of them in order to be able to get to the eventing part.

I do ask for those of you who do opt to play the BETA Demo, to report any errors you spot, such as terrain that you can walk-over when you shouldn’t, events that may not have played through properly or stopped/looped unexpectedly, and the odd portion of missed code or grammatical/spelling error, in which I’m sure I’ve missed a few at least.

I also invite people to make suggestions about the game. The best one will hopefully not only be successfully implemented, but the one who suggested it will get a NPC version of themselves in the game as part of a random side quest later on.
